Career as a Politician

Joe Morrissey first won the election to the Virginia House of Delegates in the month of November, 2007, in which he represented a Richmond area district. After that he won re-election to that prime position many times. However, he ultimately resigned from the post due to various legal troubles. Although through a special election he did win the seat again, he permanently resigned when the lawmakers made the realization that he was running for a seat in the Virginia Senate from outside his own district. He was also forced to drop that campaign.

In the month of January 2013, Morrissey attracted the attention of the entire nation when he pulled an unloaded AK-47 from under his desk during a debate on gun control. He also flourished the gun on the floor of the House of Delegates. This was after a Republican-controlled subcommittee had rejected one of his bills that would have tightened gun controls on various weapons, such as AK-47 in the commonwealth. He also went on to make an announcement stating that there are many people who are still unaware that you can carry the AK-47 in many locations in the commonwealth. He went on to state that you can also walk in the middle of Main Street with a loaded AK-47 and still be free from any violation of the law.

On the 2th of March 2015, he was disqualified from the House of Delegates after having filed to run for a state Senate seat from outside his own district. In the month of September 2015, Morrissey dropped out of the senate race that allowed Rosalyn Dance to win the re-election without any active or strong opposition.
